PUT AWAY THE OLD AND BRING ON THE NEW: We are bringing the Quadrinium to a close with only Alabama Sports Festival remaining under the “old rules”. As we purge our files and throw away eight years of Compulsory routines, notes, and score sheets we prepare to study new routines and educate ourselves in preparation for a new beginning. We void our mind of the old Optional Rules and values and open our mind to new deductions and skill values. This time is one of excitement and of dread, another period of time that every spare moment is filled with memorization and calculations. Many of you will make the decision to broaden you knowledge by studying for a new, higher level. Some of you will find it a hard decision to stay at the level you have already obtained. We will have new, interested individuals who want to become a judge and are making the decision to test. We will have friends who decide the cost of judging is too great and have made the decision to drop from the program. After many years associated with gymnastics I find our sport is never dull but always full of changes and surprises. Remember the following things you can do to remain up-to-date on all the changes: · Visit the USAG and NAWGJ web sites every week for updates. · Plan to attend an educational course to prepare for new certification. · Order you new materials as soon as possible. · STUDY! · Make plans to attend study sessions with your membership. · STUDY! · Attend every workshop/course possible. · STUDY! · Ask for help with all your questions. · STUDY! · Get proper sleep before testing. · STUDY! GOOD LUCK to each of you. Mary Ann Wallace |
