Active Status
All rated judges are required to meet ACTIVE STATUS REQUIREMENTS each certification year (January - December). The final determination of the active status for each judge is the responsibility of JCI and USAG. Those who do not complete active status requirements will be placed at the bottom of the judging rotation list; assigned only when no other judge is available. No judge "loses" a rating; all ratings are good until December 31, 2005. JCI endorses a rotation of ALL judges.

In order to meet the "Active Status" requirements, a rated judge must:
  1. Within a single (1) certification year complete 10 credit hours of clinic/workshop or designated credit work. See "Clinic/Workshop Credit Guidelines" on the back of the active status card.
  2. Judge three (3) meets.

Practice judging (at the level to which he/she aspires) is required (2 meets) only when the judge is going to test at the next highest level. THIS REQUIREMENT MUST BE FULFILLED EACH YEAR (please follow "Official Guidelines for Practice Judging").

Before a judge can test at the next higher level, Parts I, II, and III on the active status report form must be completed. When an active status card is completed, the card and a copy should be sent to the "State Active Status Coordinator" for approval. She/he will sign and send the original on to the Certification Coordinator. (Always keep a copy of your active status card in case the original is lost in the mail).

All "State Active Status Coordinators" are appointed by JCI upon recommendation of the State NAWGJ Director or elected by the state members. The Active Status Coordinator may request a supply of active status cards from the Certification Coordinator. "Procedures for Active Status Coordinators" appointment or election may be requested from the JCI office.

It is recommended that:
  1. Each judge send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to his/her "ASC" (active status coordinator) when they send in their card. The ASC will then send back a new card to be used.
  2. Each judge keep a copy of his/her card on file in case a question on active status arises.
  3. Each judge follow the directions printed on the back of the "Active Status Card".

If there are any questions, direct them to your ASC or the Certification Coordinator.
